Please support all efforts to withhold ICE funding until major reforms are agreed to and a schedule is laid out for implementation. This includes No Masks, Body Cameras, Judicial warrants, and an end to roving patrols. We must say NO to a secret police in America, and NO to any ICE human detention warehouses in Oregon.
Masked ICE agents are now active in Sherwood, they have taken at least two local residents in the last few months. Our taxpayer money is being wasted targeting people who are not criminals or gang members. This is not keeping us safe, this is just simple cruelty.
Criminal justice must be proportional and follow due process. ICE violates both principles. ICE seizures that separate families is a form of cruel and unusual punishment. It is an extremist penalty to apply to anyone who has not committed any serious crime. Due process is the law for ALL people. Many of those arrested have been denied legal representation.
ICE has hired over 12,000 agents this year, doubling in size. These people are not trained police enforcement officers. Violence and killings are inevitable when you send poorly trained people with guns into a community to use aggressive tactics against locals and apprehend people with no serious criminal records.
Blue states such as Oregon and Minnesota only have an estimated 10% of the number of undocumented immigrants as red states like Texas and Florida, but only the blue states are targeted with a militarized Ice presence. This is not about immigration, this is about an unprecedented politicized intimidation campaign.
Washington County has declared an emergency over the increased ICE activity in our local communities. The fear and disruption this brings to local families is not something we can turn our backs on.
These links contain more information and resources on how we can monitor these activities and help the families affected by it.

GOP Health Care Cost Crisis, 20 million Americans rely on the Affordable Care Act for health insurance. Trump's ending of the tax subsidies means that their health care premium costs will double on average. Five million will likely lose insurance outright. So far, About 1.4 million fewer people have enrolled for coverage this year in the face of soaring premiums. That number could increase significantly.
Health care cost for all Americans is rising and the GOP has scheduled their most savage cuts to Medicaid and Food Stamps to kick in after this years midterm elections. As Dems, we need to support the effort to end the GOP health care crisis.
Thanks to Sen Merkley for his epic 22 hour senate floor speech (linked here) protesting Trump's authoritarian power grab.
Thanks to our Rep Andrea Salinas for this video (linked here) explaining this in more detail.
Food Stamps Suspension (SNAP), The shutdown is over now, but GOP efforts to use hunger as a political weapon highlights a fundamental cruelty that cannot be forgotten and must be defeated at the ballot box.
Help Get-Out-The-Vote and win elections
This is our most important program in contacting voters and winning elections. These Neighborhood Leader volunteers contact up to 35 democratic families in their neighborhood and encouraging them to vote during election season. These contacts have been shown to increase democratic turnout by 25% and more during off year elections.
The program is open to both Democrats and progressive Independents.
It provides a way to help more than one candidate at the same time, creates a steady base of volunteers for each election cycle and helps build relationships with our voters. Volunteers get a postcard slate card of democratic endorsed candidates and distribute them via mail (stamps are provided). There is room to write a short message encouraging them to vote. Volunteers can also go door to door if they wish. This is key to winning local elections and we need your help.
You can visit https://washcodems.org/neighborhood-leader/ for information or to sign up.
You can also email us at SherwoodORDems@gmail.com to ask questions or sign up via email.
You can also signup to volunteer directly with the candidate, see below for the campaign websites.
SHERWOOD INDIVISIBLE
A chapter of the national indivisible group has formed in Sherwood. You can reach them and get on their email list via:
This group does not support political candidates but is very active in direct action and protests around current political issues. The overriding goal at these rallies is to stay peaceful but take a stand against this authoritarian destruction of our constitution and democracy. We display our banners, signs and flags. Always stay on sidewalks and do not impede foot traffic.
We are building a volunteer pool for hosting the Free Speech, Equity & Justice, and other banners. Email at indivisiblesherwoodor@gmail.com to be added to the BannersTeam list and you will be contacted when events are scheduled.

LEGAL UPDATE: 12/11/2025
Our attorney, in addition to the Oregon Department of Justice contacted the WFC to request that WFC accept a 60-day delay in the original deadline for the silent auction and transfer, rather than sell, ownership responsibility of the MMTF in accordance with the family’s written intentions for a wildlife sanctuary as written in the Trust deed signed by WFC in 1977. (See the realtor’s notices attached).
A delay was achieved, and now we need to put pressure on the Oregon DOJ to ensure that the land is transferred to another entity that will honor the original intent of the land donation. The DOJ identified many laws regarding charitable donations that were broken by WFC in proposing a commercial sale.
SEND COMPLAINTS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE:
Please consider submitting complaints to the Oregon DOJ about what the WFC is doing. Make your outrage personal and use the link provided. Instructions on:
[https://justice.oregon.gov/Charities/Complaint](https://justice.oregon.gov/Charities/Complaint) Submit your letter here: : https://justice.oregon.gov/Charities/Complaint
These complaints are not confidential, so the press, WFC, and the general public, may eventually see them. Submitting complaints can help keep the DOJ motivated on this issue, and it may help with outreach/exposure/press if the media eventually discovers a lot of complaints submitted by neighbors and recreationalists.
FUND RAISING UPDATE:
LHNA had no funds for attorney fees so we started outreach for legal fee donations. As of 11/28/2025, we have received check/cash/Zelle donations of $13,582 and GoFundMe donations of $1,350 (less whatever fee GFM chooses to impose!) for an “approximate” total of $14,932. Thank you for your support! Your donation is tax-deductible.
Your donations are needed for us to continue our legal battle to save this beautiful property for the public use. Donate to the Ladd Hill Neighborhood Association to help pay our attorney fees, every bit helps and we need your financial support. There are 3 methods to chose from:
1. At your bank’s website, find Zelle. Enter Ladd Hill or LHNA2015@gmail.com
2. Send a Check to LHNA @ PO Box 2556, Wilsonville OR 97070
3. GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/.../support-ladd-hill...
Please make a note that this money is a donation for the MMTF and provide your address to receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. Thank you for your support!!!
POTENTIAL PROPERTY STEWARD:
LHNA has officially endorsed the Willamette River Preservation Trust (WRPT) https://www.wrtrust.org to "inherit" Magness Memorial Tree Farm. We hope to work with WFC to transfer the property to the WRPT.
WRPT visited the property and expressed great interest in the possible future stewardship to the WFC. Conserving land in perpetuity is the WRPT’s goal and we feel that is the best outcome for the general public and our community. Unlike forestry organizations, cutting trees is not the focus of the WRPT’s management plan.
SUMMARY – WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1) Submit a complaint to the Oregon Department of Justice, with your personal view on retaining this beautiful property for a wildlife sanctuary and an educational nature center that the Magness Family intended.
2) Donate to pay for legal fees: Here are the three methods of donating:
1. Go Fund Me:
2. Zelle: LHNA2015@gmail.com 3.
3. Checks via US Postal Service: LHNA PO Box 2556, Wilsonville OR 97070
GoFundMe:
Please make a note to LHNA that this is a MMTF donation. Provide your mailing address to receive a donations receipt.
3) Tell others! . Many folks are still unaware of this proposed sale. We haven’t reached those who are not on social media and are not on our email list.
Thank you for your support!!!
